The Green Tea Diet

For thousands of years green tea is known for its positive effect on health. But recent scientific research has shown it has more positive effects on the human health. Green tea has long been associated in Asia for its benefits on human health. Mainly there are three types of tea- green tea, oolong tea and black tea; all produced from the same plant, Camellia sinensis.

There is no specific green tea diet. Taking 3-4 cup of green tea with a balanced diet and regular exercises may reap huge medical benefits. The past study has shown that people who drank green tea regularly for 3-4 months lost more body fat than the people who consumed regular black tea. Green tea is among the few products which are rich in minerals and antioxidants. This is because other teas are rich in calories compared to green tea.

Dr. Perricone one of the experts has commented on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that if you drink green tea instead of coffee, you could shed pounds. His explanation is “Coffee has organic acids that raise your blood sugar, raise insulin. Insulin puts a lock on body fat. When you switch over to green tea, you get your caffeine, you're all set, but you will drop your insulin levels and body fat will fall very rapidly.”
Green tea boosts metabolism resulting in your body loosing more calories resulting in weight loss. It also regulates the insulin level in the body and controls the rise of insulin in the body after taking the food. This prevents the rise of sugar level, which ultimately prevents weight gain. Your appetite decreases if you take green tea regularly, which again results in a weight loss.

Studies have shown that green tea lower’s the occurrence of all types of cancers, with more significant decreases in digestive and urinary tract cancers. Applying the green tea protects the skin from skin cancer.

Some of the cons of green tea are it may cause insomnia, irregular heart beat, diarrhea, nausea, giddiness, headaches, and loss of appetite. People with heart and kidney disease should avoid green tea.

Since some people don’t like the taste of green tea marketers have come up with green tea capsules. Taking 2-3 capsules a day will give you all the benefits of drinking a green tea.
